Stream: Jazmine Sullivan’s New EP ‘Heaux Tales’

Published: Friday 8th Jan 2021 by Rashad

Six years may have separated fans of Jazmine Sullivan from her last project, 2015’s ‘Reality Show,’ but that wait came to a much-desired end with the January 8-release of the singer’s new EP, ‘Heaux Tales.’

Launched on the backs of critically acclaimed singles ‘Lost One,’ ‘Pick Up Your Feelings,’ and the H.E.R.-assisted ‘Girl Like Me,’ ‘Tales’ stands as a 14-track affair that boasts appearances from the likes of Anderson .Paak, Ari Lennox, and more.

An empowering conceptual project (which she stresses isn’t an album) is designed around Sullivan’s “observation of today’s women standing in their power and owning who they are,” the GRAMMY-nominated diva took to press recently to further detail her inspiration behind the effort.

“No longer is male patriarchy dictating what it means to be a ‘good girl.’ The truth is, women of all ages have been called a ‘heaux’ at some point in life, whether deserved or not, by some man trying to put us in our place; a place designed to keep us under control, out of the way and usually beneath them,” she expounded.

For your listening pleasure, ‘Heaux Tales’ awaits inside for streaming via Spotify and Apple Music.

Check her stats. Her albums have done well for an R&B act. Meanwhile yo b**** can only sell 53k with a #1 hit and ticket bundle 😂😂 how embarrassing. Has that helium voiced b**** gotten braces yet to fix those teeth and uneven jawline? Or is she going busy crying over her papi?

Jasmine and Camila are both Grammy nominated vocalist with multiple albums.

Apart from motivation, mention another solo normani song, I’m waiting……
        🤣

U keep setting ur faves up.

      • Ardy January 8, 2021

No they haven’t. She hasn’t had a certification in 13 years. Even back when R&B albums were selling decently she was flopping.

      • Susan January 8, 2021

Who is mentioning Normani except you? None of the fifth harmony girls are good enough to be solo. That’s why Simon put them in a GROUP

Male patriarchy is the only reason women and girls are dressing like ho£S and use s** to sell.

    Stop this hypocrisy …

That’s a tacky album title. Huge talent , no need to devalue your art

    • Susan January 8, 2021

Did you read the meaning behind the title and listen to the album, dumbazzz? It’s about women’s empowerment. Y’all are some birdbrains

      • Nicky January 8, 2021

        F** you F A G. Stay out my mention

    Vocal blessing to my ears.
So creative and deep with her song writing.

    • RollingRay January 8, 2021

A Monica stan would think these basic, ratchet lyrics are creative and deep LMAO

This is an EP not an album. Half of the tracks are interludes that precede their respective songs (Like Sevyn’s Shoulda Been There Pt. 1). And it’s part of a bigger project. Dont tote this as an album lol

  8. Holliewuudd January 8, 2021

Hardly a full album. Too many interludes. But what songs she did gift us with are fire…but I want more

    • Bomb January 8, 2021

      That’s because it’s an EP

    • Ace Blanks January 8, 2021

It’s not an album so it’s suppose to feel different. There is a difference between an EP and an album! And they should feel different. But it’s easily great enough to be an album too if she wanted it to be.

She looks too big and masculine
